Henna Info
Henna is a wonderful conditioner and contrary to popular 'misbelief'
it will not take away the naps (otherwise they'd surely put the relaxer folks out of business!)
What henna does is soften the hair and loosen the curl a little, actually it makes detangling a
much lighter chore.
It doesn't turn your hair brassy orange especially if your hair is very dark,
and although highlights will be more prominent with people with lots of gray.
It gives black to dark brown hair lovely reddish highlights that can be seen
very well in the sun, and can be used safely on both relaxed and 'natural' hair

So what can henna do for you??
Henna conditions the hair and strengthens it by coating each individual strand. It helps with
hair conditions such as dandruff and is (in my opinion) the absolute best alternative for people
who want color without harsh chemical dyes.

Why is henna the best??
Well henna is perfectly safe you could use it everyday without any negative effects, even people
who have recently colored, bleached and even relaxed their hair can henna without worrying
about breaking or damage (however on colored hair the results of the henna will vary depending
on what color the hair has been colored)

What is henna anyway??
Henna is very simply the dried leaves of the henna plant crushed to a powder and used for hair
and of course body art. The color of your henna may vary by region for example Jamila which is
grown and milled in Pakistan and Egyptian Hennas produces very vibrant reddish color in the
hair. Whereas Yemen Henna and Henna from Rajasthan will give deeper reddish browns. Henna
literally grows all over the place in various parts of Africa and  India and comes in many
different varieties.

What is BAQ??
BAQ means Body Art Quality which means that the henna has a very fine sift and a higher dye
content making it ideal for people who do 'body art' with their henna paste.
People who want to use henna but don't really want the color should use 'henna for hair' and not
BAQ henna like Jamila '09, Yemeni and  Egyptian Henna

What is a henna gloss??
A henna gloss is a mixture that can be made with henna powder and yogurt or a conditioner and
applied to the hair as a conditioning treatment. It's a great way to stretch henna powder and
reap the benefits of henna without color.

Will henna color my gray??
Yes, it will color your grays fiery coppery reds, but if you want darker coverage you should use
indigo or even Amla powder to color the gray brown or jet black.

Is there a such thing as black henna?
Henna by itself does not color hair black. If a product says "black henna" it will contain either a
chemical dye, PPD, or if it is a natural product may contain indigo powder.

Can henna be used over permanent hair color?
Yes you can use henna over hair that has been colored with a permanent or  semi permanent
color. Henna is an all natural product that heals and strengthens hair strands.

Can I apply henna myself?
Yes, applying henna is easy and fun however if you have very long hair you may need an
assistant :-)

How can I prevent my skin from staining when I apply henna?
If you apply an oil like coconut oil or even petroleum jelly to the hair line, the henna will not
stain the skin. If you forget don't worry those stains generally fade in a day or two.

Can I add oils to my henna so my hair doesn't get dry?
Henna doesn't make the hair dry if it is properly 'sealed' and/or conditioned afterwards.
ADDING OILS TO YOUR HENNA WILL TAKE AWAY FROM THE COLORING EFFECT
